Yemen Bani Haraz - Medium Roast
Yemen Bani Haraz - Medium Roast
Whole bean from Yemen in the southern end of the Arabian peninsula.
Bani Haraz is focused around rustic sweetness, body, earthy accents and subtle fruit tones. The sweetness in the dry fragrance is unrefined, and a lot like the smell of sugar browning in a pan with a smokey bittersweet quality to it, along with notes of chocolate, pistachio, cooked pumpkin, and earthy matcha tea. The aroma is super complex and sweet, with layers of coconut palm sugar, chocolate dipped dried fruits, and a grainy aspect that smelled like toasted barley tea when breaking through the crust.
Medium Roast: Bittersweet chocolate core that expands to include creamy Brazil nut and raw cacao, leaving room for top notes of fruit and rustic leathery hints that add to the cup intensity. The cooling coffee produces flavor aspects of pepitas, lightly sweetened dark cocoa, chocolate malted grains, and dried dates. There is a cooked pumpkin flavor too, with earthy rhubarb, and a woody incense hint in the finish.
